Ukulele Workshop a Resounding Success

Well-known, Boston area ukulele teacher, Anne Ku, made her way through the snow on February 9th to be greeted by an enthusiastic group of 21 fellow strummers.  All levels were welcome in this free workshop which focused on the 20% you need to know to play 80% of what you want!  The group gathered in Trueblood Hall at the Parish House from 2-4pm making both melodies and memories.  Most registrants were from Cohasset and surrounding communities though we had a North Shore resident and even one person from NH. Participants learned about their instruments, common chord progressions, strumming techniques, and how to pick out tunes and harmonies. Anne taught the group about a 16th century composer, Johann Pachelbel, who was the inspiration for scores of pop music we listen to today.

Anne’s visit was sponsored by a grant from the Gleason Fund to bring music opportunities to First Parish and beyond.
